Finally: UEFA Approves Goal-Line Technology for Champions & Europa League Finals.
UEFA have announced that Goal-line technology will be introduced to this season’s Champions and Europa League finals. The news comes off the back of the announcement that Theodore Theodoridis has been named acting general secretary of UEFA, replacing Gianni Infantino.
Infantino was voted as the new Fifa president last week, replacing the now shamed Sepp Blatter who was previously at the helm of the organisation for 20 years.
Theodoridis, a 50-year-old Greek citizen, who has been working at UEFA since January 2008, was speaking at a press conference in Nyon today where he confirmed the news that goal-line technology will be introduced into the competition for the first time.
According the UEFA’s official website, the following competition regulations for the 2016/17 season were approved: UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Super Cup, UEFA Women’s Champions League, UEFA Futsal Cup, UEFA Youth League.
