Master Eyimofe Jemerigbe of Greenspring School, Anthony – Lagos has been presented with the award of Honourable Mention he won in the Rising Star Writing Competition. The presentation was done by the Coordinator of Rising Star Writing Competition and Chief Executive officer of The Writers Corner, Uche Udoji (Mrs.) on Friday June 3, 2016 in the school’s Assembly Hall. Master Jemerigbe got a Certificate of Award, a Bluegate UPS and a novel. Library books were also presented to the school by Mrs. Udoji on behalf of the organizers of the competition.

The award presentation was witnessed by Mr. and Mrs. Odemi Jemerigbe, his parents; the Head Teacher, Kemi Famuyide; pupils of the school and Master Jemerigbe’s teachers. During the presentation ceremony, Mr. Ike Ezugwu, Project Director of Rising Star Writing Competition and Managing Director, Vuvuzela Communications Limited, congratulated Master Jemerigbe and urged him to do better in the next edition of the competition. Mr. Ezugwu also used the opportunity to inform the enthusiastic pupils of Greensprings School about Rising Star Writing Competition and encouraged them to participate in the next edition of the competition.  At the end of the presentation ceremony, Mrs. Famuyide thanked the organizers of the competition for their laudable initiative and urged them not to relent in their efforts.

The maiden edition of The Rising Star Writing Competition was flagged off on December 3, 2015 in Lagos. The award is an annual event organized by The Writers Corner in collaboration with Vuvuzela Communications Limited to help develop children’s creative thinking and writing skills while rewarding the winning entries with various prizes. The entries, which were in two categories (Primary and Secondary), were either a poem or a short story exploring the theme “Our Troubled Planet” with 200 and 500 word -limit for a poem and short story respectively. The competition was sponsored by Greenlife Pharmaceuticals with support from Tripplesea Group, the owners/marketers of Bluegate Electronics in Nigeria. The books were donated by Chelis Bookazine.
