Corruption Kills our Future. Let us fight it NOW!
Corruption kills! It takes “the good” out of our lives and replaces it with “the bad”. The good things we ought to have and enjoy are eaten up by corruption – thereby leaving us poor, weak, sick, frustrated, underdeveloped, uncivilized and hopeless. Corruption ensures that our infrastructures and institutions remain poor, archaic and weak. Talk about health (food, hospitals, drugs, etc); transportation (roads, airports, maritime, railways, etc); Armed Forces, Police, schools, markets, etc. Corruption kills our economy and brings in hardship, hunger and death. Corruption makes it difficult for us to bring up our children properly. Corruption denies our children proper and decent upbringing and incapacitates them – making it difficult for them to compete with others across the world. Corruption sets us back! It kills us, our future.
What is Corruption?
Transparency International (TI) defines corruption as “the abuse of entrusted power for private gain”. Corruption can be classified as grand, petty and political, depending on the amounts of money lost and the sector where it occurs.
Grand corruption consists of acts committed at a high level of government that distort policies or the central functioning of the state, enabling leaders to benefit at the expense of the public good. Petty corruption refers to everyday abuse of entrusted power by low- and mid-level public officials in their interactions with ordinary citizens, who often are trying to access basic goods or services in places like hospitals, schools, police departments and other agencies.
Political corruption is a manipulation of policies, institutions and rules of procedure in the allocation of resources and financing by political decision makers, who abuse their position to sustain their power, status and wealth.
Say NO to Corruption and stop the killing by sharing this.
